New York Health Department Declares Monkeypox an Imminent Threat

The monkeypox disease that’s quickly spreading throughout New York State is now being described as a danger to health care for the entire population.

The department of health in the state Department of Health means that local health departments that are involved in prevention and response activities are eligible for additional state reimbursements when other funding sources are increased.

The most common way to spread the virus is through contact with an affected person’s breathing droplets or lesions. Governor Hochul declares that 110,000 doses monkeypox vaccine will arrive in the coming weeks.

About 80,000 doses will be delivered towards New York City and the remaining doses will be distributed across the state.
